THE JAGUAR E TYPE STORY
The Full E Type Story

We are constantly updating the full story of the restoration of the Otter Consultancy racing car on these pages. This includes many pictures showing start to finish of the project. Started in January 2002 at the workshops of Southern Classics (92) Limited, the Jaguar E Type, Series 1 4.2 litre Fixed Head Coupe is finished. Click on 'The Full E Type Story' for more details.

The car has been totally restored and seriously modified. This picture shows the car finally on the road. Photograph taken during photo shoot for Jaguar World magazine, June 2004 issue. We occasionally have requests to view the car and are happy to try to arrange this but prior notice is required to remove the car from secure storage. Initially intended for FIA Appendix K racing, the modifications have gone beyond those allowed so the car will initially be used for track days, and for providing high performance rides and instruction on track.Southern Classics (92) Limited  is run by Steven Berry, a highly skilled  panel beater, supported by a small, dedicated group of enthusiasts including long term employees Lee (mechanical) and Rory (body), Laurie(office manager), Tony (body), Phil and William who replaced Alan (the painter who did such a superb job on the car body). They love old Jaguars but work on cars ranging from Aston Martin to Rolls Royce. If the name sounds familiar they featured on Sky TV as the company restoring a Jaguar E Type Roadster in 2001 in 'A car is reborn' for the Discovery Home and Leisure channel. We would like to point out we have no direct business link with Southern Classics but are very happy to promote their work as a very satisfied long term customer. They are one of a very small number of companies I would recommend without hesitation.

Should you wish to contact them their details are: Southern Classics (92) Limited. They can be contacted by using phone, fax and e-mail as follows. Telephone 01932 787636, Fax 01932 785151, e-mail enquiries@southernclassics.co.uk and at the following website www.southernclassics.co.uk

The rather special engine in the car was built by Rob and Carl at Rob Beere Racing, based in Coventry. Another of the companies I would recommend - and there aren't that many of them! Between them they have years of experience with XK series engines and previously built what many regard as the fastest ever E Type race car, a V12 currently being rebuilt. The 4.2 litre straight six engine in the 'Otter' E Type produces over 300 genuine horsepower (rather more than the original Jaguar claims of 265 which was in reality nearer to 220) To contact Rob or Carl visit their web site at:  www.rob-beere-racing.co.uk

Here are a few more pictures of the completed car
